We had an amazing time at Hotel Phoenix.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable, the location was fantastic and the views were breathtaking. Our room had an amazing view of the Matterhorn Mountain. The staff were very helpful. When we asked to recommend a restaurant, not only did they recommend one but they booked us a table for our group and got us a copy of the menu! The breakfast was good. We would definately recommend this hotel to anyone.

Excellent, stylish-hip hotel with no fuss and great staff

Some specifics: I came to Zermatt for the hiking experience, and the hotel provided to be the perfect headquarters for me. I didn’t need a ton of hotel services / amenities. If you want the spa experience, you can still stay here and use some other hotel’s facilities without paying the accommodation premium. Everything is so close.

General: Seems like I liked the hotel as much as everyone else here. I don’t mean to write an advertisement but of the three hotels I’ve been staying at in Switzerland, this one tops the list (the others being the Hotel Schweizerhof in Lucerne and the Lindner Hotel in Leukerbad). The Phoenix is clean, affordable, quiet, and has a great “modern Alpine chic” to it. No pretense whatsoever. The staff will arrange for a free shuttle service from the train station upon arrival. Today, the owner took me back to the train station himself! Super-nice, personable guy who really cares about his guests. I would stay here again in a heartbeat on a repeat visit, esp. if prices stay competitive. I liked that internet / buffet breakfast were included – as they should be at any self-respecting hotel. A class act that I think will appeal to a range of travelers (including the LBGT crowd, which seems underserved in Switzerland).

Hotel Phoenix

“Awesome Hotel – Just Perfect in Every Way”

My wife and I stayed here July 24 and 25, 2010. Staff was super friendly and so helpful. Breakfast was delicious – chocolate flakes in the granola! View of the Matterhorn from our balcony off our room was just magnificent. Room super clean and beds comfortable. Hotel only a little over a year old. Staff told us of restaurant we should try – Chez Heini – what an experience. Former Swiss rock star runs the place – sings to the crowd @ 10 pm – food is just perfect – you get two servings of entrees – I was hungry after the first, asked for more bread (did not know second serving was coming) – never did get the bread, but didn’t need it. Wife and I have rack of lamb.
Can’t wait to go back to this hotel and stay longer. Manager drove us in the sporty golf cart (typical vehicle of the city) to the train station early am on our departure. If you do not have a lot of luggage, you could walk from train station to hotel – about 10 minutes.
